Bichlbach, Austria

Overview
Location & Accommodation
This dog-friendly chalet in Bichlbach is a great spot for a skiing or hiking holiday! We stayed here for over a week and absolutely loved our stay. The house is very large with five bedrooms and a very comfortable living room. On top of that you have access to the large garden which my dogs absolutely loved as it was covered in snow. The views from the house are also very beautiful, especially on a sunny morning. The house is located on the main road to town, but we didn't notice much traffic during our trip. The house provides self check-in which was very smooth. It's a great place if you want to ski in the winter, there's a ski lift in town and many resorts close by. Or if you want to hike in the summer, you'll find many beautiful hikes close by.
Overall experience
We stayed at this chalet for 11 nights in early March. It's very easy to reach and we really enjoyed that the town had a supermarket and ski/bike rental place, both walking distance from the accommodation. We were very surprised with how warm the house stays in winter, even in the basement where two of the bedrooms are located. Overall, we very much enjoyed our stay here. It's a large house that has everything you need for a comfortable stay. Our dogs were very relaxed here as well.

Indoor space
The chalet has five bedrooms and two bathrooms + a separate toilet. Two bedrooms are located in the basement with their own bathroom and a washing machine / dryer. The stairs to the basement are closed stairs, but carpeted. We took quite some time to remove dog hair on the last day and weren't even able to get everything out on time. The other three bedrooms are located on the first floor with one bathroom. Please note that dogs are not allowed on this level. On the ground floor you will fine a toilet, large dining & living room and a kitchen that has everything you need to cook meals at home. There's lots of plates, cutlery etc, which is super nice, but it did make it hard to find space in the kitchen to store our own dry food. You will also find a hallway when you enter the house where you can leave your outside shoes and a garage next to the house where you can recycle your trash.
Outdoor space
The house has a long driveway where you can easily park your car. In front of the house you'll also find some benches which are great to enjoy some sunshine in the late mornings. At the back of the house there's a large garden, which was completely covered by snow when we visited. Which our huskies absolutely loved. We spent quite some mornings and evening here with the dogs playing in the snow. We took the dogs out into town a few times, but there's not too much space to walk them. However, there's loads of great hikes nearby, some of which you can start from the house.

Dog friendly amenities
Facilities & area
We really enjoyed our stay at this dog-friendly chalet in Bichlbach, it’s a great base if you’re planning to explore the Tyrol region with your dog. The surrounding nature is stunning, and there's so many beautiful places for hiking as well as lots of lakes close by for swimming.
Pet policy
I brought three of my dogs with me on this trip and informed the host when I booked. There was not a specific dog fee as I just got quoted the booking fee for our entire stay. There's a few rules for the dogs. They're not allowed on any furniture, nor are they allowed on the first floor of the house. Furthermore, we brought enough poop bags in case they did their business in the garden, so we could clean up after them.
Dog friendly tips in the area
We did quite a few hikes in the area and the ones I would really recommend are: Stuibenfälle in Breitenwang, the loop around Heiterwanger See and the walk from the Tiroler Zugspitzbahn Valley station to the Eibseeblick. We also took our dogs to the ski show in Berwang which they quite enjoyed, though make sure your dogs are not afraid of fireworks as they do fire them at the end.
