Overview

Location & Accommodation

Whilst coming back from our trip to Slovenia we booked an overnight stay in the Black Forest in Germany. I had driven through this area before and wanted to come back to enjoy more of the absolute stunning views in this area. Pension Sternen is located in the heart of the Black Forest in a town called Todtmoos. It's a very cozy hotel, though a bit older, but very well maintained. The view from the room is just breathtaking, even my dogs were thoroughly enjoying themselves watching the view. The rooms are spacious and the bathroom is very modern. The reception / restaurant area is lovely and makes you feel very welcoming. The hotel is probably easiest to reach by car, though I imagine some people will hike here as well. There's not too much close to the hotel in terms of supermarkets or restaurants. We brought some sandwiches to eat for the night and had an amazing breakfast at the hotel in the morning. â€‹â€‹

Overall experience

We stayed at this hotel in October of 2025 and absolutely loved our stay here! The surrounding nature is beautiful, the owners are incredibly lovely and the room was very cozy. We only stayed here for one night and didn't get the chance to explore much of the surrounding area, but I did walk the dogs in the evening and with a clear night you can see the stars so well here! The hotel also has a small shared kitchen space with a fridge, so you can bring your own food to prepare. I would definitely recommend booking the breakfast, it is absolutely amazing and you get a lot! They even gave us some bags if we wanted to save some of the food for lunch and the dogs were welcome to join us at breakfast. The hotel has some parking around the property, but we didn't see that many parking spots.

Accommodation details

Indoor space

The hotel is divided over a couple of floors. When you check in you can enter the hotel in the front and you enter the reception / dining area. Which is very cozy. We had to go up 2 pairs of stairs to get to our room. During check in you receive the code to the back entrance, this way you don't have to go through the reception area and we only had to go up one stairs to get to our room. The room was quite spacious and had two separate beds. As I only booked the room for one person, the other bed was not made. The bathroom is not very spacious, but has everything you need. There's also a table with chairs in the room. The hotel has bigger rooms / apartments as well.

Outdoor space

My room had a balcony which the dogs absolutely loved. It had some chairs to relax in and enjoy the view. On top of that, the hotel has some garden space in the back which we didn't really explore as it had gotten dark by the time we fully settled in. But from the hotel you can easily walk in different directions to go for a nice stroll with dogs. It's rather peaceful here.

Dog friendly amenities

Facilities & area

The dogs really enjoyed their stay here and especially chilling on the balcony whilst listening to everything that was happening around them. The owners are very loving towards dogs and have their own dog as well. The surrounding area is very quiet and peaceful.

Pet policy

I paid 15 euros for this night in total for two dogs. I think they usually charge 10 euros per dog per night. They do require you to keep your dog off the bed. What I loved is the fact I got to bring them to breakfast with me!
