Overview

Location & Accommodation

This dog-friendly hotel in Gosau was a super comfortable stop during our Austria road trip. Surrounded by dramatic mountain views, it felt like we were right in the heart of the Alps, with plenty of open space around the property to walk the dogs without needing to go far. Dogs were welcome both in the room and in the lobby, which made things really easy. There’s a large parking area, and having a restaurant and bar on-site was a nice bonus after a day of exploring. It's perfect for a one or two night stay, especially if you're on a road trip or want to visit places like Hallstatt which are close by.

Overall experience

We stayed at this hotel in Gosau for a night during our road trip. The drive there was beautiful, and the surrounding landscape is seriously photogenic—I actually ended up doing a little photoshoot with the dogs near the gas station across the road after sunset because the mountain backdrop was too good to pass up. Check-in took a little longer than expected (they needed quite a bit of info), but once that was done, everything ran smoothly. The breakfast was surprisingly great, with plenty of options, and the WiFi worked perfectly throughout our stay. The location makes it easy to explore the area, and there's enough space around the hotel to walk your dog without needing to go far.

Indoor space

The room was clean, comfortable, and had everything we needed for a relaxed stay. The bed was cozy, and the bathroom was surprisingly spacious with a great shower! The balcony was a nice bonus, especially for the dogs who loved laying outside and quietly watching everything happening below. The hotel itself has a spacious lobby where dogs are welcome, plus a bar and restaurant area with an outdoor terrace. We had some bar food and drinks there one evening, really laid-back atmosphere, perfect after a day of exploring. The food took a bit longer than expected to arrive though. There are also spa facilities and a gym available on-site, though I didn’t check those out myself. Overall, a really comfortable stop with plenty of space for both us and the dogs.

Outdoor space

The outdoor space around the hotel in Gosau was one of the highlights of our stay. Surrounded by wide-open fields and dramatic mountain views in every direction, it was the perfect place to stretch our legs—and let the dogs enjoy some downtime. While the grounds aren’t fully fenced, there’s plenty of room to walk your dog on-leash right around the hotel, and we spotted a few hiking trails starting nearby for longer walks. The area felt peaceful and open, with that fresh mountain air you can’t really describe until you’re standing in it.

Dog friendly amenities

Facilities & area

I really enjoyed our stay at this dog-friendly hotel in Gosau, it’s a great base if you’re planning to explore the Salzkammergut region with your dogs. The surrounding nature is stunning, and there's plenty of space right around the hotel to walk and sniff around. My dogs loved being out on the grassy areas, and there were a few quiet trails starting close to the property that made for nice short walks before or after heading out for the day.

Pet policy

I brought two of my dogs with me on this trip and informed the hotel when I booked. They do charge an extra fee, but I don't know how much I paid exactly.
